This album is a tour de force in harmonic distortion. I love it most because it speaks to my soul. The track "Souvenirs" is particularly beautiful to me, because it reminds me of the 3rd leg of an acid trip I took several years ago. Souvenirs would have been the perfect soundtrack. This album goes together with some double-dipped Windowpane or Spider-Man blotter like cheddar cheese and apple pie. You might not think that sounds particularly pleasant, but have you actually tried it?

Weirdly enough it reminds me of the serene ambient output of the band Emeralds, though noticeably starker in tone. The result is a strangely peaceful (dare I say familiar) feeling of quiet dread and homely nihilism. Deathbed Tapes may have harsher and superficially extreme output, but I'd be willing to bet few other releases are as atmospheric as this one. Don't overlook Rubber Nurse!
